The Happy Newspaper is a collaboration with Billingham South Primary School young artists, teacher (and happiness co-ordinator) Katie Hopes and Nic Golightly.

Each season, Nic works with a group of 15 students at the school to create works which explore happiness through creative play. Initially, the group worked together to create editions of a school publication 'The Happy Newspaper'. This developed further than just a publication - collaborating with Redcar Palace to create their 'Cat Log' for the Feline-Thropic exhibition; creating artworks for within the school and further collaborations with a local care home.

Billingham South was officially the first certified British 'Outstandingly Happy' School, with the Happy Collective and Newspaper playing a clear role in this accolade.
